
Power Market Director

Duties and Responsibilities
This role offers high growth potential and significant opportunities working with a high-end clientele list. The Director will oversee a team of consultants and participate in analyzing and developing insights on wholesale power markets, clean energy goals, market modeling, primary research, data management, technical and financial analyses, and other activities.

Producing power and energy market studies, developing market forecasts, research, and data management and analyzing power market trends;

Work closely with an integrated team to perform a wide range of assignments applicable to our market forecasting group, including modeling and forecasting, and economic and financial analyses of electric power markets;

Data analysis and development of pro forma reports;

Strategic and transactional support to project developers, utilities, and lenders;

Market studies, including those related to energy and capacity pricing, fuel supply (natural and coal), renewables, and environmental regulations;

Resource planning analytics;

Business and market research;

Capacity expansion review, development, and validation;

Generation, energy market, environmental compliance, and cost/economic analyses;

Market assessment reporting; and
-
Create and deliver client presentations;

Participate in industry conferences and events to promote FEP and our expertise.
The Director’s role may require travel in accordance with client and FEP needs.
Qualifications

Previous experience analyzing and forecasting electric power markets, including power plant operations and fuel commodity prices is preferred;

Familiarity with U.S. power markets, operations and structures;

Familiarity with fundamental power market models, including zonal or nodal capabilities; is preferred

Previous experience with Aurora, licensed from EPIS LLC, is preferred;

Strong analytical, statistical, and data management skills;

Python, VBA, and other coding skills is highly preferred

Knowledge of environmental regulations impacting power plant operations and market pricing is preferred;

Competence providing quality assurance/quality control for all work projects submitted to clients;

Effective verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to manage tasks necessary to complete the work; and

Interpersonal skills that include a teamwork attitude with a focus on meeting the client needs while striving for an enjoyable work environment for all FEP staff.
Education/Experience
-
At least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance, analytic / data science, economics or other applicable area;

Ten to twenty years’ experience in the electric power industry such as renewable energy development or energy consulting is preferred;

Experience with fundamental power market models (Aurora, PLEXOS, PROMOD or similar) is preferred; and

MS Office (Word, Power Point, Advanced Excel experience)

Work in the Denver, Colorado office
Compensation Range
The estimated compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $300,000 year for a full-time, exempt position. FEP takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the employee’s work location.
