Energy Analyst

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Energy Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical support for a broad range of energy market studies, market forecasts, market research, and data management of power market trends. Position will work closely with an integrated team to perform a wide range of assignments from our appraisal and valuation group and our energy market analytics group, including some modeling and forecasting, economic and financial analyses of electric power markets. 


  • Analyze operational and financial data and assist in the creation of operational/financial models for decision support;

  • Perform data analysis and data mining for the development of pro forma reports;

  • Provide financial and transactional support to project developers, utilities, and lenders;

  • Perform electric industry resource planning and operational analytics; and

  • Perform analysis of generation, energy market, environmental compliance, and cost/economics thereof.


The Analyst’s role may require travel in accordance with client and FEP needs. 



  • Well-rounded financial/engineering work experience and/or relevant college curriculum;

  • Competence in providing quality assurance/quality control for all work projects submitted to clients;

  • Strong quantitative and analytical competency;

  • Python, VBA, and other coding skills is a plus;

  • Attention to detail and pride in work product;

  • Self-starter with strong and effective interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail;

  • Ability to manage tasks necessary to complete the work;

  • Interpersonal skills that include a teamwork attitude with a focus on meeting the client needs while striving for an enjoyable work environment for all FEP staff; and

  • Familiarity with U.S. power markets (regulated and non-regulated) a plus.



  • At least a bachelor’s degree in areas such as engineering, finance, economics, or other applicable business/science areas; MBA or other post-graduate work a plus;

  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions (Macros, VBA) a plus;

  • Proficiency in financial modeling techniques (NPV, DCF, forecasting, etc.) also a plus; and

  • At least two years’ work experience or a very strong college curriculum in business and/or applied sciences areas.


Salary Range:​

$55,000 to $85,0000 per year for full time employees dependent on experience and education.
